Mukhya Upanishad Nouns Frequency Wise

Shown in the table below is the frequency wise arranged list of nouns found in the other-main-upanishads. These Upanishads are Kena, Katha, Taittariya, Aitareya, Ishavasya, Prashna, Mundaka and Mandukya Upanishads. These eight Upanishads together with Brihadaranyaka Upanishad and Chandogya Upanishad forms the famous ten Upanishads (Dasopanishads.).

Brahman is the most frequent noun which is the typical characteristic of an Upanishad since and Upanishad mostly describe the Vedantic concept called Brahman which is formless but appear in different conceptual forms like God (Ishwara), Universe (Jagat) and Observer (Jeeva). Other similar topics commonly discussed in all Upanishads are Self (Atman), Sun (the eye of Heaven and a symbol of the Self), Prana (the vital Air), Earth (the support), Purusha (another aspect of the Self), Aum (the primordial sound), Agni (the Fire, a visible aspect of the invisible Self). Another prominent noun is Nachiketas, the hero of Katha Upahishad who made Yama (lord of Death) his preceptor and learned from him the secret of Immortality.
